The Lagos State Ministry of Health (LSMoH) is currently recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Consultant Radiologist

Location: Ikeja, Lagos
Employment Type: Contract

Job Description

  • Review images of presumptive TB cases from the CAD4TB cloud platform according to the screening algorithm and advice on diagnostic inferences
  • Provide advisory where necessary on the review of the screening algorithm and facility SOPs
  • Support the provision of efficient, effective, professional, and timely radiological services on and the grant-supported digital X-ray screening program.
  • Assist, supervise, and advise other X-ray screening staff to ensure quality and professional services.
  • Advice on radiology matters to ensure the maintenance of professional standards of radiology and promote appropriate and safe practices.
  • Review images of CAD4TB score below the benchmark/threshold score from the CAD4TB cloud platform referred by the medical officers.
  • Participate actively in promoting and planning further development concerning equipment needs, maintenance, and replacement to meet international standards.
  • Evolve or advise on a comprehensive program of total quality management to ensure quality standards are met and maintained.
  • Ensure that there is no mishandling of equipment and accessories and that all start-up and shutdown protocols are followed.
  • Coordinate the supervisory inputs of onsite radiologists and radiographers where available/applicable in supported facilities
  • Assist in the interpretation of X-ray films on the DR-TB program to ensure the provision of optional cases
  • Work with the unit program team to align the objectives and practices of the X-ray screening program with the overall grant target
  • Any other duties assigned by the PR for the seamless implementation of screening for Tuberculosis using X-ray strategy in the state.

Experience and Qualifications

  • The Consultant Radiologist must be a Medical Doctor (MBBS, MBBCh)
  • Fellowship certification in Radiology from the Nigerian Postgraduate Medical College
  • At least 3-5 years experience practicing as a Radiologist.
  • Good computer skills, including familiarity and versatility with using MS Excel, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint. Additional IT Knowledge is an added advantage.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multiple partners/a Team and work independently under minimal supervision.
  • Openness to new ideas and willingness to accept different opinions and feedback.
  • Attention to detail and ability to complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Flexibility across a range of field and office-related tasks.
  • Must have a current practicing license from the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria.

Job Title: Radiographer

Location: Alausa Ikeja, Lagos
Employment Type: Contract

Job Description

  • The Radiographer will work on the NGA-T-LSMOH Grant together with the State’s TB Program (STBLCP) to support implementation of the TB Control program in the operationalization of the TB X-Ray Vans and Machines across all GF supported sites to improve TB case notification in the State.

Specific Responsibilities and Duties

  • To provide the service to all clients, including those who may be unwell or even uncooperative, in a firm and non-threatening manner.
  • Obtain high quality digital chest x-ray images of the clients including the use of Computer aided Detection for Tuberculosis (CAD4TB) and Picture Archiving Computer System (PACS) and ensure that best practices are observed at all times in the designated facility or x-ray van.
  • Ensure that all the CAD4TB images are reviewed by the appointed Radiologist, all patients with abnormal CXR are appropriately reviewed by the Radiologist and linked to care.
  • Liaise with the Facility Management and LSMOH Field Team on site to ensure smooth workflow and maximum system efficiency throughout the chest x-ray screening activities.
  • Ensure that there is no mishandling of equipment and accessories and that all start up and shut down protocols are followed.
  • Develop a sound knowledge of the equipment used in order to be aware of malfunctions and errors and to report accordingly.
  • Ensure all adequate safety measures are taken to avoid any undue exposure to radiation.
  • Ensure proper handling and use of x-ray equipment and related software.
  • Ensure that data (such as patient IDs, demographics, CAD scores etc.) is entered correctly into the system daily.
  • Provide daily/weekly/monthly stats to the M&E team (for verification purposes), including:
    • Number of daily chest x-rays (CXR) done
    • Number of abnormal CXR’s as per CAD4TB Score
    • Number of clinical cases of TB as per Radiologist’s report
    • Number of other lung pathologies as per Radiologist’s report
  • Participate in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities.
  • Support other staff members of the team when required.
  • Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team that is target driven and result orientated.
  • Provide overall supervision and time management of all HR for the TB screening using chest x-rays and communicate effectively with clinical, managerial, administrative and ancillary staff of the facility (if facility based).
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Job Title: Data Entry Clark

Job Description

  • To ensure data generated at public and private health facilities within the LGA are reported accurately and in a timely manner for use by the Local Implementation Team and the State program.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with LGA Focal persons & M&E Officers and LACA structures to ensure that all Facilities offering HIV services within the LGA are reporting timely data.
  • Transfer data generated from the facility by the Facility records officers/ Facility M&E Officers into computer file or database system
  • Verify and update all data by comparing with the facility source documents to ensure the accuracy of data.
  • Ensure that all data in the different thematic areas are submitted to the SASCP M&E officers for onward transmission to the National reporting template.
  • Work with the Implementing Partners within the facility to ensure that timely data is provided to the State AIDS Control Program unit.
  • Work with Local Implementation Team (which includes the LGA FP, LGA M&E officer) on coordination and implementation of the HIV activities in their LGAs using data to make informed decisions.
  • Any other task as assigned by the Supervisors at the LGA and State level.
