Good news to all interested Ghanaians who wants to travel to the United States of America, the United States of America (USA) visa lottery application portal is open. Applications are currently on for the 2019 Diversity Visa Lottery Program (DV2019).
As advised by the US Department of State interested applicants are to begin their online application immediately. The application portal might be very slow during the registration due to the large number of application received every day.
The United States Government has made available about 50,000 permanent resident visas to citizens of countries that traditionally have a low rate of immigration to the United States.
During the 2016 DV Lottery application, millions of Ghanaians applied and many got the visa, but only 2500 out of 6,000 Ghanaians that applied, passed the final stage to enter into the US. 3500 applicants were disqualified.
List of countries that is not eligible for this Diversity Visa Lottery
- Bangladesh
- Brazil
- Canada
- China (mainland-born)
- Colombia
- The Dominican Republic
- El Salvador
- Haiti
- India
- Jamaica
- Mexico
- Nigeria
- Pakistan
- Peru
- The Philippines
- South Korea
- The United Kingdom (except Northern Ireland) and its dependent territories
- Vietnam.
How to Apply
To apply, you must have at least a secondary education then click on the link: www.dvlottery.state.gov
The Department of State never uses email to notify entrants that they have been selected for the Diversity Visa. This information is available ONLY at the Entrant Status Check. You should not believe any email claiming you have been selected to apply for a visa under the DV program. These malicious emails are sent by criminal operators who seek to defraud individuals of their money or obtain their personal information. The Department of State will never ask you to send money by mail or services such as Western Union.
Important notice
- Applicants are to apply online only from the E-DV approved site
- Application requires a recent passport photograph with eye and face clearly showing. No glasses are required for the passport
- Print your online confirmation page and keep it safely
- Check at www.dvlottery.state.gov to see if your entry was selected.
- Check back from 1st of May, 2018 if you are successful using your confirmation number
- Your confirmation number after submission is your only access to check your application status.
- The visa lottery is free
- Irrespective of who submits the entry, only one entry can be submitted in the name of each person/applicant
