North East Nigeria Makeathon 2017- How to apply for 2017 North-East Humanitarian Makeathon

The North-East Makeathon is an intensive programme to crowd source and support innovative ideas to develop effective and scalable solutions to the humanitarian challenges faced by internally displaced persons (IDPs) and other affected persons in North East of Nigeria.

The goals mission and objectives of the makeathon is to start a process and develop an ecosystem of innovation close to conflict and natural disaster affected people by co-creating solutions with them and with humanitarian service providers to address the protection and assistance challenges that have remained so far neglected

The makeathon is targeted at providing innovative solutions to the humanitarian challenges faced by IDPs and other affected persons living in the North East of Nigeria. The makeathon is focused on the bottom of the pyramid people affected by chronic humanitarian emergencies including IDPs, vulnerable sections of the population and people in remote inaccessible places

We aim to achieve this by working side by side with representatives of the affected persons in each team, listen to their stories, understand their challenges and together be co-creators of the solutions through innovation and technology

How to Apply

Please ensure you download and complete both documents listed below as it is compulsory to upload a completed copy for each of the downloaded documents in the course of your application process.

You are to provide a short video clip of 2MB or less then 2MB and picture(s) of 4MB or less than 4MB of your idea or innovation to support your application.

This will also be requested in the course of your application but it is optional

Phase 1- Challenge Identification

Phase 2- Idea crowd sourcing; call for applications and screening of applications

Phase 3- Co-creation of prototypes and first round of de-selection

12 Nov. 2017 – 24 Nov. 2017

Phase 4 User testing and refinement
