Requirements to open a current account
First requirement- A current passport photograph
Opening a current bank account requires a recent passport photograph of the account holder. The passport must be clear with all your facial features showing clearly. The passport could be in red or white background.
Second requirement– identity card
Opening a current account requires a valid identity card, these cards must be a highly recognized ID card that is acceptable in your country and also will be accepted outside your country. Example of an id required are National Identity Card, International Passport and Driver‘s license, Voter‘s card etc all these listed cards must be a permanent ID card.
Third requirement- Two referees
All current account opening needs at least 2 referees that have an active current account. These two referees are to ascertain that they know you and can attest the fact that you are well known to them and to safe guard the bank from section 3(2) of cheques act of 1934. Fourth requirement- required amount
Different bank with different amount that is used in opening a current account i.e the account opening amount varies across different banks. Some bank requires a minimum of N100,000 or N50,000 while some take as low as N5,000 to open the account.
