According to Johnbosco Akaegbobi, a lawmaker in Anambra’s House of Assembly, civil servants in grade levels eight and nine in the state are paid less than N40,000 per month. He raised this concern during a budget defense session at the Office of the Head of Service. Akaegbobi emphasized the significance of the civil service in driving government development policies and expressed his regret over the low salaries and lack of promotions for Grade 8 and 9 civil servants.
In challenging times, like the present, civil servants in Anambra State need adequate remuneration. A monthly salary of forty thousand naira falls short in meeting basic needs, let alone supporting a family. There is a call for additional incentives such as a housing scheme and car loans for employees to be considered.
